Yesterday, Saturday September 19, SAACS volunteered with the local ACS chapter and JJ’s Playhouse to put on the event Chemistry Mixology.
3 students from Georgia Tech, along with several from Mercer University (the university hosting this event) got together to tell younger kids what exactly chemists do. Jennifer Knaack presented and introduced the experiments while the students helped the kids and their parents make slime, extract DNA from cheek cells, and make fizzy lemonade.
It was a lot of fun, and the kids were pretty excited about these experiments (much more so than college students; I wish I could impress my classmates with this kind of stuff)
